The 117-mile Sunrise Powerlink transmission line has successfully linked San Diego to California’s Imperial Valley, an emerging hub for renewable energy development. The positive impact of this infrastructure project is enormous, not only to the San Diego region, but also to California as the state pursues its ambitious renewable energy goals.
PanGIS produced and updated the GIS database consisting of 1000’s of archaeological sites. Using GIS, staff determined which sites need monitoring and testing. Large volumes of maps were produced to support the project. PanGIS has also worked on several other very large projects for major utility companies including wood to steel pole conversion and Cleveland National Forest circuits, as well as many alternate energy projects that feed off of the Sunrise Power Link.
