The proposed project is for the construction of a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) Substation. The project site is directly adjacent to the Round Mountain – Table Mountain #1 and #2 500 kV transmission line corridor. The proposed project is located 9.3 miles north of State Highway 44 in an unincorporated area of southern Shasta County. The site land-use is currently ranching and is surrounded by ranching and rural residential.
PanGIS’ Principal Investigator for Cultural Resources directed staff for the NAHC Sacred Lands File Search, Native American outreach letters, the records search, and survey, and wrote the technical report in ARMR format and the cultural resources section of the Proponent’s Environmental Assessments (PEA). The CPUC is the permitting agency and the cultural resources study and PEA checklist satisfy CEQA requirements.
