The project is the development of a reactive power support substation expansion of the PG&E owned Gates substation near the City of Huron. The project was approved by the California Independent System Operator Corporation (CAISO) to ensure the reliability of a major portion of the CAISO controlled grid and accommodate maintenance and contingencies of the reactive device.
PanGIS’ Principal Investigator for Cultural Resources directed staff for the Sacred Lands File Search and outreach, records search, and survey, and wrote the technical report in ARMR format and the cultural resources section of the Proponent’s Environmental Assessments (PEA). The CPUC is the permitting agency and the cultural resources study and PEA checklist satisfy CEQA requirements.
