Archaeological Survey for Intrusive Inspections, Sidewalk Stamp Project, North Park, City of San Diego, CA
The purpose of this survey was to provide constraints information to assist a Major Utility in its compliance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements. 550 existing pole locations were inspected and surveyed for cultural artifacts by a team of qualified archaeologists at PanGIS. 47 sidewalk stamp sites in originally poured markers in concrete were identified and recorded.
The markers are known as sidewalk stamps and indicate the original San Diego contractor or business that constructed the sidewalks in the neighborhoods throughout the City of San Diego. Dates for the construction of infrastructure in San Diego can be determined through the name on the stamps.
